Welcome to Verdigris, a modern forge and creative metalworking studio based near Wimborne Minster in Dorset and run by contemporary artist blacksmith David Hyde.

David has established a reputation for producing bespoke, artistic and innovative metalwork by blending exciting design, exquisite craftsmanship and subtle detailing. A variety of work is created, varying in size from smaller sculptural pieces through to large architectural commissions such as gates and railings. Styles and designs range from understated, modern and geometric through to David's signature curvilinear work influenced by the Art Nouveau movement and flowing natural forms.

Much of David's metalwork is made from steel (often referred to as wrought iron) but a variety of metals are used including, copper, bronze and stainless steel. All work is bespoke and handmade, with particular attention paid to the joinery. This is reflected in the finish, individuality, texture and attention to detail of the high quality metalwork produced.

Commissions of all scale are designed and made for both domestic and commercial customers. David also regularly works with architects and interior designers to produce a wide range of contemporary metalwork. Whilst this can be installed throughout the UK, he has previously fitted work in France, Spain and across Europe. Work of all scale has also been shipped to the USA.

A selected portfolio of previous commissions is shown on the gallery pages. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, or would like to have something specially made, please contact David. Commissions and enquiries of any scale and nature are always welcome.
