A combination of oak, steel and copper was used to create these unique
and unusual candlesticks. A beam of structural steel
channel was forged to shape whilst red hot to create the candlesticks' elegant
tapers. In doing so, the beam's cross section transitioned in a very expressive way from channel to rounded to square. Working the steel this way lends the metal a rich surface
texture and a natural
patina that was enhanced with a
burnished and waxed finish.
Copper drip trays are used as an accent and counterpoint to the grey-black tones of the forged steel.
