This pair of unique, creative and very different
stainless
steel gates were commissioned by Stoke council and designed by Verdigris.
The flared finials featured on the uprights play on the location of the gates; "Trumpet Passage".
They were built without a conventional frame, instead
the structure of the gates comes from the cantilevered central
panels. Frameless gates and railings often feature in Verdigris' portfolio.
The structural panels were given a heavy
forged
texture then
finished with
graphite paint to emphasise this texture whilst the stainless
steel tubes and "tiles" were satin polished. The stainless
steel flares on the uprights were made by hand spinning whilst
the motifs in the "tiles" were laser cut.
