This pair of contemporary candlesticks is
forged from a channel shaped
structural
steel beam.
The steel is shaped by hammering it whilst glowing hot to form the candlesticks' elegant
tapers. This creates a very expressive transition in the beam's cross section from channel to rounded to square. The forging process lends the steel a rich worked
texture and natural patina that is enhanced with a
burnished and waxed finish.
Copper drip trays are used as an accent and counterpoint to the grey-black tones of the forged steel.
