This stainless
steel fire canopy was designed for
Chorley Old Hall; the oldest inhabited country house in Cheshire. A double walled construction was used to prevent heat from the fire blueing and distorting the outer wall of the canopy. This was textured and lightly
distressed for an aged look in keeping with its medieval setting. A lapped and
riveted construction was used to fix the stainless panels to the rigid inner structure.
More details of the construction of the canopy can be seen on
this blog page.
This fire basket and
these sculputural scales were made to complement the canopy.
