This collection is a response to
David's
fascination with the almost endless palette of colours offered by bronze and copper alloys.
Each sculpture is a unique fusion of two contrasting, but complementary metals. The stylised birds are cast using both traditional bronze alloys and bespoke
blends David has specially developed.
A modified version of the time honoured casting technique of cire perdue is used to create a headless body. A second cast with a suitable alloy then fuses the head onto this body.
The contrast between the alloys is enhanced by the sculpture's deep hand polish and the metal's patinas.
David discusses the serendipity involved in his development of this collection on this
blog page.
