This bespoke Art Nouveau gate for a walled garden was designed to complement
this pair of previously commissioned
gates.
The
gate's design features a balanced blend of straight lines and flowing curves typically
seen in Art Nouveau metalwork.
Traditional blacksmithing techniques were used to
forge the
steel to shape by
hammering the metal whilst
hot.
The gate has a
galvanised finish to prevent corrosion. This
initially has a bright and shiny finish that will slowly age and weather to a mottled matt grey
to complement the brickwork surrounding the gate.
