This set of folding driveway gates and complementary railings was
commissioned by a passionate gardener with a fondness for Hart's Tongue
ferns. The fern leaves are scattered randomly across the gate and are entwined around the verticals,
as opposed than being
arranged as a more realistic cluster (as this
Hart's Tongue fern sculpture
shows).
Stylised ivy leaves, flowing curves and sculptural fern leaves are featured throughout the gates lending them a three dimensional and sculptural quality.
The flowing top curves that evolve into the stylised ivy leaves and tendrils with
their wrapped
joinery are a signature feature of Verdigris' gate designs.
The central gate is for pedestrian access and folds back onto the main gates. This reduces the width of the other sections, allowing for unrestricted vehicular access when they are opened.
