H27: Contemporary Wrought Iron Stair Balustrades

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

Hampstead, London

These contemporary wrought iron stair balustrades are a creative blend of straight lines and curves, with an almost graphic quality. The curvilinear and flowing shapes are made by forging the metal whilst hot. This gives its surface a rich texture full of character, which is protected by a waxed finish which highlights the texture and enhances the tones of the balustrade.

The flow of the curved bars, combined with the intersections of the straight lines and the spiraling volute of the handrail give the balustrade a three dimensional, almost sculptural, quality.

The balustrades are a development of these balustrades commissioned for a boutique in the Piazza, Covent Garden. The owners of the work featured here also commissioned this safety grill for the window at the base of the stairs.
