Letchmore Heath, Hertfordshire 2012
These bespoke, elegant and understated metal railings have a contemporary design but were made using traditional blacksmithing techniques.
Their hand forged "foliage" was
based on the concept of youthful plant shoots emerging from besides
the railing's posts. These shoots appear to be growing rapidly and inquisitively.
The railings are rich with hand forged detailing
such as the stylised leaves and
the graceful curving lines of
railing's top rail. More information about how some of the leaves
were forged can be found in this
The owners of these railings
also commissioned these driveway
gates to complement the railings.
