The design of this contemporary
wrought iron handrail was inspired by the sweeping and flowing curves of the
Art Nouveau period. Its bold and almost sculptural
shapes were made by forging the
steel whilst hot. When heated in a
blacksmith's forge the metal becomes soft and malleable and can be
beaten into the flowing shapes seen here.
The handrail was galvanised then aged with an acid etch to complement the slate
clad stairs.
