The design of this garden gate for a period property in Alderley Edge, Cheshire was inspired by the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement and its emphasis on traditional craftsmanship and simple design.
It features bespoke
hand forged leaves made using traditional
blacksmithing techniques and expressive
joinery based around
hot punched holes.
Particular attention was paid to the latch which blends into the overall design of the gate and is almost hidden within it. Its hand
forged nature gives it a pleasing tactile feel and it operates with a reassuring and definitive "clunk".
