V89 Bespoke Handmade Metal Bench

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

Reddish Vale Country Park

This sculptural bench was designed as part of an Arts Trail through Reddish Vale Country Park, celebrating the history of the now closed Needhams Iron Foundry. The bench was designed by David Hyde and made as a collaboration with community artist Karen Allerton. The project also involved a group of young people from the area who assisted with the making and installation.

A wide range of traditional blacksmithing techniques were used to create the detailing featured throughout the bench. This included hot punched holes, wrapped joinery, "upset" finials and hand forged leaves.
